Each week, on Tuesday or Wednesday evenings, groups of around a dozen people meet in someone’s home, or on Zoom for our Growth Groups.
These include all of the following:
- Bible study that encourages biblical thinking and living. In particular, we pick up on what we’ve learned on Sunday and talk about what it should mean for us in practice.
- Prayer with and for each other.
- Friendship that gets beyond the surface.
- Serving alongside each other to help us REACH OUT, BUILD UP and SEND OUT.
Growth groups are the “engine room” of our family life, and we encourage everyone who wants to be a member of the church family to join one. It is through Growth Groups that we can properly support one another. Once a month though we meet centrally for our Church Prayer Meeting.

Students are encouraged to join or be attached to a growth group as well. We know that for some students, hall groups and CU meetings already take up a lot of evenings and we don’t want you to be overloaded - but by being an “associate” growth group member you’ll have people who are there to look out for you and give you somewhere to chill out if you need it. For others, joining a growth group is a great chance to get to know a cross-section of the church family, and to be encouraged and supported as you follow Jesus whilst at University.
During the Covid-19 pandemic, Growth Groups have been meeting online via Zoom at their normal meeting times, and our Church Prayer Meeting has also been on Zoom. We’re now getting back into meeting together in person.
